Wintonbury Hills Golf Course, a Pete Dye-designed course in Bloomfield, Conn., was built in 1995, and it was Dye's first championship design in New England. It is a combination of open links-style and traditional tree-lined holes. The fairways are generous and rolling, which helps one navigate the 125 bunkers.

Ten minutes away from the downtown of any major city, you would need very little reason to be convinced to play a course as good as Brickyard Crossing for as little as it costs, but the unique setting closes the deal. It's a Pete Dye course in the middle of the Mother of All Racetracks.

In true Pete Dye fashion, there's plenty of trouble at the TPC Louisiana. Most notably, there are 103 bunkers of all shapes and sizes. One is as long as 150 yards and includes six small islands of turf. Sixty-two of the sand hazards are pot bunkers and will snag careless tee shots and approaches, resulting in at least a one-stroke penalty in most cases....

The Duke's Course is a modern heathland golf course located just outside the town of St. Andrews. It was originally designed by Peter Thomson, but after Herb Kohler purchased the Old Course Hotel and Duke's property, he called on Pete Dye apprentice Tim Liddy to redesign the course, including creating four new holes and reshaping each of the 100-plus bunkers.
